This digital art print of Saint Agatha is the perfect addition to your home decor or a great gift for birthdays, Confirmation, weddings, or Christmas.
St. Agatha was most well known for her great beauty and is considered one of the most highly venerated martyrs of the Catholic Church. Because of her great beauty, Agatha was quite sought after by men in her community. One of these men, Quintianus, believed he could force Agatha to marry him due to his high political rank. Agatha, however, had promised herself to God and had become a consecrated virgin, so she rejected any offers of marriage that came her way.
Out of shame and fury, Quintianus decided to turn Agatha in because of her belief in Christianity, and despite the threat of death upon her, Agatha remained steadfast in her faith. Quintianus forced Agatha into other demeaning positions in order to make her give in, including imprisoning her in a brothel and disfiguring her by cutting off her breasts, but Agatha would not renounce her faith or give in to his marriage proposals and her wounds were miraculously healed.
She is the patron saint of breast cancer patients, rape victims, and wet nurses. People also often pray to her for protection from fires.
