This digital art print of Saint Brigid is the perfect addition to your home decor or a great gift for birthdays, Confirmation, weddings, or Christmas.
St. Brigid is one of Ireland’s most famous saints (behind St. Patrick, of course). Her origin story is sometimes conflated with that of Brigit, a Celtic goddess. Brigid was known for her purity throughout her life and it is even said that when a Druid tried to feed her, she could not stomach the food because the Druid was not Christian, so she was sustained by a white cow with red ears.
In her lifetime, Brigid founded a school of art that focused in part on illumination, and it is said that this is where the Book of Kildare was illuminated.
In art, Brigid is often depicted with the Cross of St. Brigid, woven from reeds, and a flame. Tradition says that the nuns at her monastery kept alive an eternal flame. She was also known to have the power to multiply things such as butter, bacon, and milk, to control the weather, and to turn water into beer.
