This digital art print of Saint Scholastica is the perfect addition to your home decor or a great gift for birthdays, Confirmation, weddings, or Christmas.
You do not often hear of St. Scholastica mentioned on her own--she is often tied to her twin brother St. Benedict. It is not clear if Benedict and Scholastica are simply siblings or if they are actually twins. Despite their connectedness, Scholastica holds a special place in the canon all on her own.
Tradition says that once a year, Scholastica would visit her brother Benedict and they would spend the day worshiping together and studying sacred texts together. On one of these visits, Scholastica wished for Benedict to stay longer than the single day they would spend in each other’s company, but Benedict would not agree. In response, Scholastica prayed and a wild storm erupted outside, preventing Benedict from leaving. This allowed the pair to spend more time together right before her death.
Scholastica is the patron saint of nuns, education, and convulsive children and is often invoked against storms and rain.
