This digital art print of Saint Thomas Aquinas is the perfect addition to your home decor or a great gift for birthdays, Confirmation, weddings, or Christmas.
Thomas was born into a well-off family and began his education at age 5. When he was influenced to join the Dominican Order by his teacher and mentor, his family learned of his decision and held him captive in their castle for a year to keep him from joining the Order.
Eventually, when they realized his heart was set on his decision, they allowed him to escape out the window of the castle. They manufactured Thomas’ “escape” because they decided an escaped, and therefore disobedient, son would be less embarrassing for the family than giving in to Thomas’ desires!
Thomas did join the Dominicans and went on to write several famous works, including his most famous Summa Theologiae, and earned his doctorate in theology. During a time in prayer, Christ is said to have told him, “You have written well of me, Thomas. What reward would you have for your labor?” to which Thomas replied, “Nothing but you, Lord.”
